Formally adopted by the GCF in its Eighth Board Meeting in October 2014, the no-objection procedure is a core element of the funding proposal and approval process.

The purpose of the no-objection procedure is to ensure that project or programme proposals that are being put forward to the GCF have genuine country ownership and stakeholder buy-in and that those projects or programmes are contributing to achieving national climate targets, strategies, priorities and plans.
The time is past when humankind thought it could selfishly draw on exhaustible resources. We know now the world is not a commodity, is not a source of revenue; it’s a common good, it’s our heritage. And the consequences of climate change are fully known now – we’re not talking about theories anymore, we’re talking about certainties.
